Trailing 22-17 with under two minutes to go in the first half, St. Joseph’s scored the last four points of the second period, and 7 of the first 9 points of the third for an 11-2 spurt and a 28-24 lead.
Freshmen Richard Greaves and Tyree Taganeca-Ford were at the center of the scoring towards the end of the first half as Greaves made a nice stutter step move for a jumper from the left elbow while Taganeca-Ford scored in transition to close the gap to 22-21 at the intermission.
Letrell West sparked the early third quarter run with a three pointer from the right wing to give the Falcons the led for good. St. Joe’s led by as many as 13 on a couple of occasions late in the fourth before winning the contest, 54-42.
Greaves finished with a game high 19 points including 10 of 13 from the free throw line. West chipped in with 15 while Taganeca-Ford added 9. Dante Ralph led East Brunswick in a losing cause with 19 points.
