GMC Hoops Slideshow–January 30, 2014–Edison @ Sayreville–White Division Clash

Here is a slideshow from photos taken of the action from a GMC White Division contest between Edison and third ranked Sayreville at the end of January 2014. It was quite a night at the Bomb Shelter in Sayreville as the third ranked Bombers hosted the Edison Eagles in a GMC White Division Clash. Sayreville led throughout much of the game, but Edison gave it quite a battle including a 17-4 tear over the first 6:39 of the fourth to pull within one at 54-53.

The Bombers did manage to hang on for the 58-53 win as Brian Gay made a pair of free throws with 24 seconds left, and then Corey Taite sank a pair of charity shots himself with 13 seconds to play to wrap up the victory. Taite, who scored his 1,000th point in his career late in the first half, ended up with 13 points while big man, Jehvye Floyd led all scorers with 17 points including two jams and a perfect 5 of 5 from the foul line. Rob Seraji also scored in double figures for Sayreville with 10 points including two threes.

Edison was led by Trayvon Washington, who refused to give up on his team. He spearheaded the Eagles 1-2-2 full court press in the final period by picking up a couple steals, and scoring 6 points in the final two minutes of play. Washington ended up with 16 points while forward, Devon Johnson chipped in with 13 points, and Raekwon Ross added 11 before fouling out late in the game.
