Here are photos taken from the action in the opening round of the Scotty Wood Tournament at Muhlenberg College between D3 college teams Widener and FDU-Florham. Widener scored the first 10 points of the game before FDU-Florham rallied with a 20-9 tear over a span of about 10 minutes to take a 20-19 lead. After that though, the Pride took over with a 16-6 tear to take a 35-26 lead at the break, and then opened the second half on a 9-4 run to take a 44-30 lead with 17:56 remaining.
Widener continued to pour it on en route to a 75-49 victory to advance to the Championship on Saturday night. Former Raritan standout, Kevin Furlong led FDU-Florham in defeat with 11 points while Middletown North’s Mike Barber chipped in with 9. South Amboy’s Steve Herdman was a bright spot for the Devils with 7 points including two threes in the second half. Widener was led by Greg Lawson, who had a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds while New Egypt’s Mark Pryzbylkowski chipped in with 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists, and David Nicholson added 12 points.
