Blue Jays Roll Past Metuchen In Battle Of Two New Group II Schools, 83-49

MIDDLESEX, NJSummer of 2008 GMC Hoops Player of the Week, Michael Colacci was the hot hand as he pumped in a game high 22 points to lead Middlesex to an easy win over the Bulldogs of Metuchen. It was a typical team effort though for the Blue Jays as senior point guard, Mike Perone scored 16 points while handing out 11 assists, and senior forward, Ryan Farley added a double-double of his own with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Mark Stockton chipped in with 9 points.

In a game that lasted nearly three hours according to head coach, Brian Feath, both teams picked up a combined total of 53 total fouls. Middlesex methodically broke down the Bulldog pressure defense, and executed brilliantly on offense to take a commanding 53-20 lead into the locker room at the intermission. In the second half, the Jays still managed to edge the Bulldogs in the scoring 30-29 for the lopsided win.

Middlesex, which starts the season at 1-0 in both division and overall play, has a key test on Monday at Bishop George Ahr where the GMC Blue can have an early frontrunner emerge from the outcome of this key early season game. Metuchen falls to 0-1. Both schools have been recently elevated to Group II status due to an increase in enrollment.
