Amboy Surges Past Jackson Memorial While Monroe Rolls Past South Amboy
MONROE, NJ–On Thursday night, GMC Hoops traveled down to the Monroe Sports Center to take in two games played during the 9:00 PM hour at the 2016 MSC Fall League. Both games involved teams from the Greater Middlesex Conference as Perth Amboy took on Jackson Memorial and Monroe battled South Amboy.
Monroe scored 13 of the first 15 points and then added 17 unanswered to take a 30-2 lead en route to a 67-22 victory over South Amboy. Meanwhile, Perth Amboy had a bit more of a challenge with Jackson Memorial from Ocean County. The Panthers led 15-9 early on in the first half while the Jaguars put together a 14-4 spurt for a 23-19 lead.
However, led by Fres Cabrera, Perth Amboy would score 20 of the next 26 points for a 39-29 lead with 13 minutes to go in the game, and then went on a 14-7 tear for a 53-36 lead with several minutes to go. Cabrera highlighted the surge with a number of transition baskets including a one handed dunk. Amboy went on to win, 59-43. Below are again the scores from Thursday night action at MSC:
