Bound Brook Crusader Classic Tourney History

Check out the history of the Bound Brook Crusader Classic held at Bound Brook High School since the tourney returned in the 2007-08 season. The tournament, originally played during the 1980s including my senior year at South Plainfield when the Tigers defeated Bound Brook to begin a six-year run of dominance (1987-1992) over the tournament under head coach Jeff Lubreski, lasted into the early 2000s with Somerville dominating the tournament from 1993 to 2000. Hopewell Valley defeated South Plainfield in the 2001 Championship Game, which was the last Crusader Classic final that South Plainfield played in before moving on to the John “Butch” Kowal Tourney in Rahway. GMC Teams that have competed in this tourney since its renewal in 2007 include: Middlesex, North Plainfield (when it was in the Skyland Conference), Somerset Tech (when it was an independent), Piscataway Tech and Spotswood.
