GMC Hoops Players of the Game:  Dunellen vs. South River

Dunellen’s Jamael Davis led all scorers with a game-high 25 points, while South River’s Cole Teresky poured in a team-high 23 points during the Destroyers’ 72-61 victory over the Rams at the Faber in Dunellen on Monday evening. Davis and Teresky were selected GMC Hoops Players of the Game for their respective schools.

DUNELLEN, NJ – On Monday evening, regular-season action resumed with a Greater Middlesex Conference Blue American Division clash between South River and Dunellen at The Faber in Dunellen. In a back-and-forth game that was fairly close throughout, Dunellen put together a crucial 12-4 fourth-quarter spurt, highlighted by a Will Ghanim three to come away with the 72-61 win.

Dunellen led 52-39 late in the third after a driving layup by JJ Goodridge. South River responded with an 8-2 run to end the frame, and a free throw to begin the fourth to pull within six at 54-48. Jamael Davis led the Destroyers with a game-high 25 points, while Goodridge chipped in with 13. Cole Teresky led the Rams in a losing cause with 23, while teammate Anthony Costa added 17. Dunellen:  Jamael Davis

The 6’1” senior guard/forward led the Destroyers to a 72-61 victory over South River with a game-high 25 points on 9 total field goals, including a buzzer-beating three to end the first half, and showed significant improvement at the charity stripe by making all 6 of his free throw attempts.  Davis scored 12 points in the first half and 13 in the second half.  It was Davis’ second consecutive game with 20 points or more.  Through his first four games, Davis is averaging 16.3 points per contest.

South River:  Cole Teresky

The 5’11 senior guard kept the Rams in the game for much of the contest before fouling out in the fourth quarter.  Teresky poured in a team-high 23 points on 7 total field goals, including a first-quarter three and 8 of 11 from the foul line.  He scored 9 points in the first half and 14 in the second half, while also collecting two rebounds, an assist, and a steal.  Through his first four games, Teresky has scored at least 22 points three times and is averaging 20.0 points, 1.3 assists, 1.3 steals, and a rebound per contest.
