Senior Yandel Susana and junior Kasey Abreu teamed up for 44 points to lead Perth Amboy to a come-from-behind, 62-54 victory over Tottenville in the Outerbridge Classic at Carteret. The Panther duo shared game high with 22 points to earn GMC Hoops Co-Player of the Game honors.
CARTERET, NJ – Before heading over to South Amboy for the 2025 Friends of South Amboy Games, GMC Hoops made a stop at Carteret High School for the first game of a doubleheader in the Outerbridge Classic between Perth Amboy and Tottenville of Staten Island. The Panthers rallied from behind with a decisive fourth-quarter spurt to defeat the Pirates, 62-54. Take a look at the selections for Players of the Game from both teams.
Perth Amboy: Yandel Susana and Kasey Abreu
Susana and Abreu turned in superb performances for the Panthers in the win. The Panther duo combined to score 44 of Amboy’s 62 points. Susana, a beneficiary of the fine teamwork and passing by the Panthers, tallied his 22 points on 8 two-point field goals and 6 of 7 from the charity stripe. Susana also collected 3 rebounds, 2 steals, an assist, and a block.
Abreu may have played the best game of his career to this point. The junior forward shared the game high of 22 points with Susana on 9 total field goals, including a buzzer-beating three to end the third for a 43-41 lead. Abreu also made three of four from the foul line, while collecting 5 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 assists.
Tottenville: Danny Garcia
Garcia led Tottenville with a game-high 28 points, including five three-pointers and 3 of 5 from the line. Behind the shooting of Garcia, Tottenville outscored Perth Amboy by a margin of 18-12 from beyond the arc. The Pirates jumped out to a 21-17 first-quarter lead after Garcia (12 points in period) knocked down a three-pointer from the right wing before the buzzer.
