Junior forward Andrew Kretkowski of St. Joseph’s and freshman forward Desmond Rudanovic earned GMC Hoops Player of the Game honors for their schools during Saturday’s GMC Red American Division contest between the Falcons and Patriots. Kretkowski collected 22 points and 8 rebounds for St. Joe’s, while Rudanovic compiled his 2nd double-double of the year with 15 points and 10 boards.
METUCHEN, NJ – On Saturday, GMC Hoops visited Maglio Gymnasium in Metuchen to take in the key early-season match-up from the Greater Middlesex Conference Red American Division between St. Joseph’s and Colonia.
In a very physical game, the top-ranked Falcons pulled away from a 28-21 halftime lead for the 58-40 win. Andrew Kretkowski (22 points and 8 rebounds) and Alijah Murphy (16 points) led the Falcons, while Desmond Rudanovic (15 points and 10 rebounds) and Jayce Rodriguez (13 points), led Colonia. St. Joseph’s: Andrew Kretkowski
The junior forward followed up a 28-point performance in the GMC opener against Old Bridge with another solid effort against Colonia. Kretkowski scored a game-high 22 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in a key early-season clash in the GMC Red American Division versus Colonia at Maglio Gymnasium. The highly touted forward compiled his 22 points on 8 total field goals, including two three-pointers, while also swiping a steal in a 58-40 victory. Kretkowski has scored at least 20 points in all three of the Falcons’ games, and is averaging 23.3 points per game thus far this season.
Colonia: Desmond Rudanovic
The 6’7” freshman didn’t shy away from the big stage. Instead, he thrived in it with a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds, along with a block and an assist. Rudanovic made six field goals and sank 3 of 5 from the line. Through Colonia’s first four games, Rudanovic is averaging 11.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per contest. Rudanovic already has two double-doubles this season.
