Opening in 1969, St. Thomas Aquinas experienced quick success in the Middlesex County Tournament with a semifinal berth in 1973, and an upset over fourth-seeded South Plainfield in the opening round of the 1974 tournament. However, the Trojans only had one 20-win season before 2018-19. Aquinas won three straight GMCTs and won 20 games four times under the guidance of Bob Turco.
