Here are the video highlights from the last quarter and a half of the game between St. John Vianney and Cardinal McCarrick in the Colt Classic on Saturday. The Eagles jumped out to a 50-31 lead midway through the third quarter before the Lancers responded with a 22-8 run over the next eight minutes or so to draw within five at 58-53. However, Vianney was unable to get any closer as McCarrick won by the score of 68-60. The Eagles were led by Ahmid Williams, who scored a team high 23 points including 19 points in the first half. Michael Balkovich led Vianney with a game high 27 points including his 1,000th career point. Enjoy.
EDISON, NJ–On Friday afternoon, GMC Hoops received updated information from Middlesex County College men’s basketball head coach, Chris Tarver on the upcoming inaugural Colt Classic set for next Saturday, January 29th at Middlesex County College. There will be five games played that day at the Physical Education Center on the main campus of MCC. Three will be boys basketball games, one will be a college men’s basketball game, and the other will be a college women’s basketball game.
This will be a Middlesex vs. Monmouth format with three teams from the GMC: Cardinal McCarrick, East Brunswick, and Monroe taking on three teams from the Shore Conference: Marlboro, Red Bank Catholic, and St. John Vianney. Then, the MCC men’s and women’s teams will be taking on Brookdale Community College of Lincroft. Below is the full schedule of games for the day.

EDISON, NJ–On Tuesday night, GMC Hoops learned from Middlesex County College assistant men’s basketball coach, Chris Tarver, that there will be a High School Showcase between schools from Middlesex and Monmouth Counties prior to the game between Middlesex County College and Brookdale Community College on January 21, 2011 at MCC. There will be three games involving three teams from Middlesex County and three squads from Monmouth County. The six teams competing are: Cardinal McCarrick, East Brunswick, and Monroe from Middlesex and Marlboro, St. John Vianney, and Red Bank Catholic from Monmouth.
