GMC Hoops Game Notes–#2 Edison vs. #1 J. P. Stevens–Rahway Summer League Championship–July 27, 2016

RAHWAY, NJ–It was an all Edison Township final at the 2016 Rahway Summer League Playoffs held at Rahway High School on Wednesday as second seeded Edison, winners of eight straight, took on top seeded J.P. Stevens, which had the league’s best overall record at 10-1, in the Championship Game.

Trailing 7-3 early on, the Hawks of JPS gradually took control by finishing the first half on a 15-6 tear including a jumper from the left baseline by Rishav Ghosh with three seconds left in the first half for an 18-13 lead. The Hawks increased their advantage to ten at 30-20 by going on a 12-7 spurt at the start of the second half before Edison rallied with an 8-2 burst including a layups by Christian Wantong and Joe Cudakiewicz and free throws by Cudakiewicz and Justin Turner to pull within four with a little over four minutes remaining.

Stevens wouldn’t let the arch rival Eagles get any closer as the Hawks pulled away for the 43-34 victory. Below are game notes from the action.
