HAMILTON, NJ–In the first game of the GMC Hoops tripleheader at the 2016 Summer Primetime Shootout, South Brunswick took on the host school, Trenton Catholic Academy. The Vikings and Iron Mikes went back and forth throughout the game, but after South Brunswick took a 43-41 lead on one of two free throws from Mike Ugarte with 9:28 left, Trenton Catholic put together what would be a decisive 14-1 tear over a 5:28 span for a 54-44 lead with exactly four minutes left. Ugarte and Tavian Alford led a Vikings comeback in the form of a 9-0 rally, but couldn’t get any closer in a 57-53 loss. Below are game notes from the action:
