GMC Hoops Highlights–February 19, 2017–#5 Old Bridge vs. #4 Woodbridge–GMCT Elite Eight

Here are highlights from the action in fourth seeded Woodbridge’s win over fifth seeded Old Bridge in the 2017 GMCT Quarterfinals at New Brunswick High School.

The Barrons fell behind early 8-2, but then turned things around with 27-13 surge over the rest of the first half for a 29-21 lead. Woodbridge then put together a 16-7 showing in the third capped by three great assists and two huge blocks by Harry Rutkowski, and a three by Curtis Nesbit for a 45-28 lead. Woodbridge eventually led by 20 points in the fourth quarter before Old Bridge finished the game on a solid run led by Jared Meyer (12 points) and Kyle Parris (25 points) to close out the contest more respectably in a 63-54 loss.

Five different Woodbridge players scored in double figures including Rutkowski (13 points), Hura Blaine (12 points), Nesbit and Keshaun Henry (11 points), and Kemari Persol (10 points). Woodbridge improved to 18-4 with the victory and advanced to the semifinals for the second straight year, and the third time in the last five years. Old Bridge fell to 16-8 on the season.
