Here are some video highlights from the opening round of the 2012 North Jersey Section 2 Group IV State Playoffs between New Providence of Union County and Dunellen of Middlesex County. The Pioneers jumped out to a 10-0 lead as Dunellen didn’t score until the 1:05 mark of the first period.
The Destroyers were only 1 of 8 from the floor in the opening frame, and had an uphill battle the rest of the way. Dunellen tried to climb back into the game with a 9-3 run to start the second half, but New Providence ended the third with the last seven points for a 36-24 lead, and led by as many as 20 points late in the fourth quarter en route to a 53-37 victory.
Deon Brown led Dunellen in a losing cause with 13 points. The Destroyers finished the season at 15-11.
