Though I was only able to see the last two quarters of the Rams-Carteret varsity boys’ basketball scrimmage, I did catch what appeared to be a “revived” Rams’ squad. Led by the “fired-up”, spirited play of senior Jim Witkowski, the Rams outplayed the Ramblers in the 4th quarter.
Fellow seniors Ed Dumas and Eric Seawright also hit some clutch baskets during the stretch and South River showed some good defense. Speed looks to be a key part of this Rams’ team in 2007-08.
Again, it may be too early to make any regular season predictions, but the Rams’ just may have turned a corner. They looked like a determined team, and even Coach DelAversano was caught up in the Rams inspired play. I haven’t seen him as emotional as he was during the scrimmage in years. All good signs.
