Justin Carbone, shown here battling for a putback in the first half against Hightstown, led South Brunswick with a game high 26 points as the Vikings advanced to the Central Jersey Group 4 Semifinals for the first time since 2016 with an impressive 84-41 win over the Rams.
Devin Strickland, shown here going up for a score in the 4th quarter, scored a game high 23 points including a breakaway dunk in the third period to highlight a 27-13 showing by South Brunswick that propelled the 4th seeded Vikings to an 82-61 opening round victory over 13th seeded Jackson Memorial in the 2020 NJSIAA Central Jersey Group 4 State Tournament.
Jimmy Frage, shown here firing up a three point attempt over the outstretched hand of Carteret’s Aiden Ramirez, scored a team high 13 points including five over the final two minutes of play to lead 5th seeded Colonia to a 47-39 win over the 4th seeded Ramblers in the 2020 NJSIAA North Jersey Section 2 Group 3 Quarterfinals in Carteret.
Devin Strickland, senior forward for South Brunswick goes up for this score amongst a group of St. Joseph’s defenders in a late season GMC Red showdown in Monmouth Junction on February 1st. South Brunswick claimed its first ever GMC Hoops Trophy, and became the first GMC school other than St. Joseph’s to win the GMC Hoops Trophy since 2013.
Derrick Grant, shown here jamming home a two handed slam in an early season game against J.P. Stevens back in December 2018, played a huge role securing St. Thomas Aquinas’ first GMCT crown since 1992.
Kelsey Ransom, shown here following through on a shot in the 2nd half of St. Thomas Aquinas’ win over Monroe in the 2020 GMCT Girls Championship, was tourney MVP as the Lady Trojans won their 2nd straight crown.
Nasir White, shown here scoring in the 4th quarter, had 7 points including 4 in the second half and 6 rebounds in top seeded Dunellen’s 52-51 victory over 9th seeded Jonathan Dayton in the 2020 North Jersey Section 2 Group 1 Quarterfinals.
Tyree Ford, shown here putting up a three point attempt in the 3rd quarter during 3rd seeded St. Joseph’s contest versus 11th seeded Notre Dame in the 2020 NJSIAA Non-Public A Quarterfinals, scored 13 points in the second half including seven in the fourth quarter to propel the Falcons to a 70-63 victory over the Irish.
South Brunswick’s Devin Strickland goes up for a score in the 3rd quarter versus Marlboro in the 2020 NJSIAA Central Jersey Group 4 Championship on March 11th. Strickland led the Vikings to a season to remember, and one that brought back memories of the 2006-07 SBHS Vikings team that reached the Group 4 State Championship Game.
