Former WCTC Announcer Mike Pavlichko Returns to the HS Sports Air Waves
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Back in the summer, Mike Pavlichko, a long time high school sports play by play announcer for WCTC 1450 AM, launched a new web site called Central Jersey Sports Radio. Pavlichko, who had been broadcasting at WCTC since 1999-2000 season, covered the abbreviated high school football season during the fall, and now will be returning to the hard court for the first time in five years.
Central Jersey Sports Radio had planned to broadcast 13 regular season games plus Skyland Conference and Greater Middlesex Conference post-season games the week of March 1st. The inaugural season of coverage got underway on Tuesday night, January 26th, when CJ Sports Radio traveled to The Faber in Dunellen to take in the opening night GMC Crossover Match-Up between Edison of the White Division and Dunellen, a new member of the GMC Blue.
Despite several postponements due to both the COVID pandemic and this year’s wintry weather, Pavlichko, and his Central Jersey Sports Radio team have continued to move forward and are covering both boys and girls basketball in the Greater Middlesex Conference, and the Skyland Conference. Central Jersey Sports Radio staff, which also includes Dom Savino, plans to have a big week this coming week including a powerhouse girls-boys day-night doubleheader on Saturday, February 20th.
