Here is a slideshow of photos taken from the action in South River’s 75-35 victory over Timothy Christian in a GMC Gold Clash in early January 2015. Using a zone press, the Rams were able to force a lot of turnovers, but wasn’t able to cash in on them right away in the first half. Timothy Christian managed to stay within single digits for a good portion of the first 13 minutes of the first half. Josh Decker fired in a three pointer from the left wing to close the gap to 17-9 with 3:45 to go in the second quarter.
However, South River finished the half on a 13-5 tear as Mario Nigro (11 points) fired in all 9 of his first half points on three treys to give the Rams a 30-14 halftime lead. South River didn’t let up in the second half either. Instead, the Rams opened the third quarter with a 13-2 spurt including a layup and a three by Sean Darrar (18 points and 10 rebounds), a layup off a baseline drive by Maurice Lawrence, and a steal for a layup by Zach Torres (15 points) for a 43-16 lead. From there, the Rams cruised by outscoring the Tigers 32-19 the rest of the way for the easy win. With the victory, South River improved to 3-2 in the Gold Division and .500 overall at 4-4.
