Here are highlights from the action in South River’s victory over Timothy Christian in a Gold Division Clash. Despite a tough start shooting from the floor, South River was able to use its zone press to force a lot of turnovers, and eventually got going with a 13-5 spurt over the last 3:45 of the first half to break away from a 17-9 lead to take a 30-14 advantage into halftime, and then scored 13 of the first 15 points of the third quarter to take a commanding 43-16 lead en route to a 75-35 victory over the Tigers. Sean Darrar, who leads the state in scoring according to NJ.com, collected a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds while Zach Torres chipped in with 15 points and Mario Nigro added 11 including three treys late in the first half. Will Clemons led Timothy Christian with 8 points and 8 rebounds while Pierce Kokosinski also had 8 in a losing cause.
