SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ–On Tuesday night, it became official as the Board of Education in Plainfield gave its final approval to hire former South Plainfield Boys Basketball head coach, Jeff Lubreski to take the head coaching position at Plainfield High School. GMC Hoops went searching through the archives to compile Lubreski’s coaching record while at SPHS. While it is not 100 percent accurate, it is fairly close. See the year by year breakdown below:

- 1986-87 (4-18)–Started season 0-14
- 1987-88 (11-13)–Started season 4-0, and was ranked in Star-Ledger’s Middlesex County Top 10 to start 1988. Qualified for the 1988 GMCT and Reached Quarterfinals of CJ Group II
- 1988-89 (7-17)–Kazzie Taylor leads team in scoring…but he was also the point guard.
- 1989-90 (20-8)–Finish 2nd in GMC White, Qualified for 1990 GMCT, and won CJ Group II.
- 1990-91 (24-4)–Win GMC White, and CJ Group II. Reach 1991 GMCT Semifinals.
- 1991-92 (14-11)–Qualified for 1992 GMCT, and reached CJ Group II Semifinals.
- 1992-93 (13-12)–Qualified for 1993 GMCT, and reached CJ Group II Semifinals.
- 1993-94 (9-12)–Qualified for CJ Group II

- 2001-02 (13-11)–Marquis Jones era begins at SPHS. Loses to Colonia 4 times. Qualifies for CJ Group III
- 2002-03 (17-6)–Wins GMC White Divsion, Reaches 2003 GMCT Semifinals, and Qualifies for CJ Group III
- 2003-04 (27-1)–Wins GMC White Division, First ever GMCT crown, Reaches North Jersey Section 2 Group III Championship, and GMC Hoops Coach of the Year. Team listed as best of GMC Hoops Ten Greatest Teams for 5th Anniversary of site.
- 2004-05 (19-6)–Wins a share of GMC White, Second straight GMCT crown, and reaches Quarterfinals of North Jersey Section 2 Group III
- Career Record: 247-202. Four GMC White crowns, Four GMCT Final Fours, Two GMCT Titles, Five Sectional Final Fours, Two Sectional Championships.
