SOUTH AMBOY, NJ–On Saturday afternoon, GMC Hoops completed its round robin coverage of the 2016 Boys GMCT Play-In Round by taking a trip to South Amboy Middle-High School to see the 23rd seeded Guvs host 26th seeded Wardlaw.
The Governors broke away from a 5-4 lead midway thru the first period with a 7-2 run including a layup in the closing seconds for a 12-6 lead. Then, the Guvs outscored the Rams by a margin of 8-7 in the second for a 20-13 halftime lead. In the third the Guvs scored the first five points during their 13-2 tear for a 33-15 lead.
Wardlaw outscored South Amboy by a 22-13 margin the rest of the way, but it wasn’t enough as the Guvs won, 46-37. Senior guard, Keahre Ford led the way for the winners with a game high 21 points while Alan Kazar chipped in with 9. Garrett Racz and Scott Hargrove each scored 13 in a losing cause for Wardlaw.
