Here are highlights from the action in the nightcap game of the 2017 Hoops for Troops showcase at Franklin High School between the hometown Warriors and arch rival, Piscataway.
The Chiefs jumped out to a 10-0 lead early on in the first quarter, but Franklin rallied back with a 35-24 surge that lasted into the early moments of the third to give the Warriors a 35-34 lead.
P-Way then outscored Franklin by a 14-9 margin for the rest of the period including a bucket before the buzzer by Jordan Davidson to take a 48-44 lead into the fourth. Piscataway outscored Franklin in the final period by a margin of 26-25, but the Chiefs seemed to have the game put away late.
However, Francis Omowole willed the Warriors back to within three points at 70-67 with 12.5 seconds left with a three pointer off an inbounds. Piscataway was able to hang on though for the 80-70 victory.
Mattias Arrindell led the Chiefs with a team high 26 points while Keshawn Grant and Dahjuan Bennerman each chipped in with 11, and Cameron Saintil added 10. Omowole led Franklin with a game high 29 points while Dominic Wright chipped in with 9.
