Here is a slideshow of photos from the action in a non-conference game between East Brunswick Tech of the Greater Middlesex Conference’s Gold Division and Koinonia Academy of Plainfield.
The Seraphs of Koinonia, jumped out to a 9-4 lead, and led 26-18 late in the first half before E.B. Tech, led by forward, Dan Rachelkyuk, rallied with a 7-0 run to pull within one, and trailed 27-25 at the intermission.
However, in the third quarter, Koinonia put together a 13-3 run that was highlighted by threes from Mike Hardy and Ben Peregrin as well as a technical foul on EB Tech that resulted in three free throws for the Seraphs including two from Jim Clemente for a 40-28 lead.
The Tigers made a rally that started late in the third, and carried over into the fourth that included a three pointer and a layup by R.J. Jobin and a transition layup by Enudy Jiminez to close the gap to 44-37 with under six minutes to play.
Unfortunately, East Brunswick Tech was unable to get any closer as Koinonia finished the game on a 13-9 run including several free throws by Ray Molnar and a couple of putbacks by Roddy Lowder to come away with the 57-46 victory.
Peregrin finished with a team high 15 points for Koinonia while Molnar chipped in with 12. Jobin had game high with 16 in a losing cause for East Brunswick Tech while Rachelkyuk chipped in with 14 points, all coming in the first half.
