GMC Hoops Game Notes–Piscataway Tech @ Carteret–December 16, 2015–Scrimmage

CARTERET, NJ–On Wednesday afternoon, GMC Hoops traveled over to Carteret to take in its final pre-season scrimmage of the 2015-16 season between the hometown Ramblers and Piscataway Tech. The varsity squads went at it in a fierce battle that ended up in a 41-41 tie while the JV squads had a tale of two quarters with Carteret winning the first period, 18-5 while P-Way Tech won the second by a margin of 14-5. The JV Ramblers got the overall edge in the exhibition, 23-19. Below are game notes from the action:

Fourth Quarter

Carteret led 38-32 with under 4 minutes left before PWAY Tech rallied with a 7-1 rally including a three pointer and a FT by Ali Austin and 3 FTs by German Pimentel to tie the game with a half minute left.

Carteret scored on a putback to take a 41-39 lead with 22 seconds left, and appeared to have the scrimmage won when PWAY Tech turned the ball over with 15 seconds to play.

Raiders fouled Carteret with about 10 seconds to go. Ramblers missed FT, and PWAY Tech rebounded, came down the floor, and scored at the buzzer on a jumper by Khalil Smith for a 41-41 tie.

JV Scrimmage–First Quarter

Carteret scored the first four points of the scrimmage before PWAY Tech got on the board with a basket and a foul. The JV Ramblers scored 14 of the last 16 points including a 10-0 run to break away from an 8-4 edge for an 18-4 lead. CHS won the frame 18-5.


Second Quarter

The JV Ramblers scored 3 of the first 5 points to take a 21-7 lead. Piscataway Tech finished strong with a 12-2 tear, but Carteret got the edge in the scrimmage 23-19.
