GMC Hoops Slideshow–February 26, 2014–#9 St. Joseph’s vs. #4 North Brunswick–EB JV Semis

Here is a slideshow from photos taken of the action in the nightcap of the semifinal doubleheader at the 2014 East Brunswick/GMC JV Tournament between 9th seeded St. Joseph’s and 4th seeded North Brunswick. In a game that featured several dramatic shifts in momentum, North Brunswick overcame an eight point deficit in about a minute midway through the fourth quarter to tie the score at 46-46, but sophomore Bryce Layne came up with a huge three point play, and then stole an inbounds pass with just seconds remaining to pull out the hard fought 49-46 win for the Falcons.

North Brunswick had three players score in double figures led by big man Tony Tan with 13 points. Basit Khan chipped in with 12 while Andrew Tsygan added 11 in defeat for the Junior Raiders. Although St. Joseph’s didn’t have a player that scored in double figures, the Junior Falcons had a more balanced attack with 6 players scoring at least six points led by freshman Xavier Townes, who had a team high 9 points including two threes in the third quarter. Layne ended up with 7 points as well as fellow sophomore Connor Klementowicz while Connor Mahoney chipped in with 8 points and both Bryan Carley and freshman Mike Granda contributed with 6. The Junior Falcons outscored the Junior Raiders by a margin of 18-6 from beyond the arc in the win.
