Patriot Rally Falls Short In 54-51 Loss To Piscataway Tech
PERTH AMBOY, NJ–Amboy Tech rallied from a 15 point deficite in the 4th period only to fall short as Wilson Lopez missed a game tying trey with 2.8 seconds remaining. The Lopez shot came after Mohammad Conteh canned two free throws to put the Raiders up 54-51. Lopez had hit two treys of his own earlier in the period.
The Patriot charge was led by a ferocious press and Junior Anthony Patterson’s 13 point 4th quarter. Patterson led all scorers with 27 points. He also had his 5th double-double in a row with 18 rebounds 6 steals 3 assists and a block. Joey Castro drew the assignment on Raider center Justin Braxton. Both players fouled out before the end. Castro finished with 3 points 4 rebounds 4 steals 4 blocks 4 deflections and drew 2 charges.
Shawn Cruz scored a team high 16 for the Raiders while teammate and senior center, Justin Braxton added 13. With the victory, Piscataway Tech improves to 3-4 overall on the season, 1-2 in the GMC Gold, and 1-4 in conference while Perth Amboy Tech drops to 5-4 overall, 1-3 in divisional play, and 4-3 in the GMC.
