The Little Mammimals That Could Lead The Jays Past the Owls

MIDDLESEX, NJ–Last year the Middlesex Blue Jays went into Highland Park and went
into the locker room with a comfy lead, only to blow that said double digit lead and become mathamatically elimilated from the state playoffs. With the first game this year at the Owls home base being a rather close affair, the Jays must have been cautioned to avoid a letdown. With a final score being 78-31 it seemed more like a pre-Super Bowl Patriots score.

The proud Owls would not go without a valient struggle though, as they jumped out to an early 2-0 lead at the 2:03 mark with a shot by 5th year senior Jovan Harrison. The game was then tied and then Middlesex went on a 10-2 run to end the first quarter at a low scoring 12-4. Middlesex would take control with identical 21-11 quarters in the middle frames. The Jays showed great scoring equality with five players in double figures led by Sparky Stockton’s sixteen. Harrison showed great integrity for the Owls by playing hard no matter the score and was rewarded with a team high of seven. With the victory, Middlesex improves to 14-3 overall on the season, and 8-3 in the GMC Blue.

Three Stars of the Game

  • Kyle Paul Adams – Middlesex – The senior guard who works as hard as anyone on the team, no matter just how goofy he can be. The crowd favorite who have adorned him “Mammimals” for his inability to pronounciate animal drained every shot taken (1-1 2pt ,2-2 3pt, 4-4 ft) by taking his own dribble and driving right side. Making four consecutive free throws and with the team sensing his hotness kept feeding him the ball as he made two more, this time from long range.
  • Rest of the Middlesex Bench – Middlesex – Senior Adams, Juniors Ryan Farley, Mike Colacci, Mike Fincher and Sophmores Adam Wells and Avery Barnes combined to outscore the owls with a totaled 39 points and 12 rebounds.
  • Jovan Harrison – Highland Park – The sophmore 3rd team all state Linebacker was the lone bright spot for the Owls, garnering five points and six rebounds as the enegry player off the bench.
