Tough Opening Week In Football Playoffs For The GMC

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ–As we move into the semifinal round of the various NJSIAA State Football Playoffs this weekend, the GMC will be looking to do much better than it did last week. Last week, the conference only managed to go 9-12 overall against non-conference teams in both playoff and consolation game action. In thirteen consolation contests, the teams from the GMC only managed to go 5-8 while in the state tournaments, the conference fared better with a .500 mark at 4-4. Middlesex also advanced, but did that by defeating another GMC team in Highland Park. So, going into this weekend’s action, there are only five teams left in the playoffs from the conference including: Metuchen, Middlesex, Piscataway, Sayreville, and South Brunswick.
