GMC Country Under A Winter Weather Advisory

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ–Early Friday morning, GMC Hoops learned that the entire Middlesex County area is under a Winter Weather Advisory from 6:00 AM EST on Friday morning to 12:00 AM Midnight EST on Saturday. Currently, a strong winter storm is moving rapidly in from the west, and should pass through New Jersey and other parts of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic later today.

Snowfall amounts in Greater Middlesex Conference Country could range from 3 to 5 inches while other nearby locales in Somerset, Union, and Essex County could receive anywhere from 4 to 9 inches with a Winter Storm Warning in effect. Much further north in Upstate New York, 8 to 16 inches of snowfall is forecast. See details on this latest winter storm in the Hurricaneville Blogosphere.

Could this hamper the Opening Day festivities for GMC Boys Basketball Season 2008-09? It’s possible. One thing going for us in this storm is that it is heading in from the West, and that means warm air will arrive head of the low pressure center. As a result, temperatures will go up, and the snow that starts early on in this weather event will eventually changeover to sleet and rain. The question is how long will it take for the changeover to take place, and how will the change affect the roadways in the form of sleet, ice, and freezing rain as well as the snow already on the ground.
