GMC Gridiron–State Playoffs And Consolation Games–Performance Against Non-Conference Foes

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ–Perhaps the tough scheduling the GMC teams had this year made a difference. Last week, there were 22 games involving teams from the GMC in the various state tournaments and consolation games. Twenty of those contests involved foes from outside the Greater Middlesex Conference. In those twenty games, the GMC did very well winning 13 of those contests including a 5-4 mark in state playoff games. Here’s how the conference did against other conferences.

Conference By Conference Look At How GMC Did Against Non-Conference Opponents

  • Burlington County Scholastic League (2-0)
  • Colonial Valley Conference (3-0)
  • Mid-State 39 (2-5)
  • Shore Conference (1-1)
  • Super Essex Conference (2-0)
  • North Jersey Tri-County (2-1)
  • Northwest Jersey Conference (1-0)

In those games, the GMC outscored their opponents by a margin of 381-303, or by an average of 19 to 15. The GMC Red was 4-1 against non-conference opponents while the GMC White was 3-2. The GMC Blue, which was 2-13 against Shore Conference opponents this season, and 1-5 in GMC crossovers, actually did very well with a 3-2 mark while the GMC Gold was also 3-2. The GMC will be playing two more non-conference games this week as Woodbridge travels to Ridge of the Mid-State 39 for the semifinal round of the North Jersey Section 2 Group IV State Tournament while Monroe hosts Ocean Township from the Shore Conference in the Central Jersey Group III State Tournament.
