Got home about an hour ago from seeing the Non-Public Group III State Championship from Kean University. The Green Knights of St. Joseph’s of Montvale dominated much of the first half of its matchup against Immaculata. Scoring on its second and third drives of the game, St. Joseph’s of Montvale, which defeated Bishop Ahr in the opening round (42-6), didn’t need anymore scoring thanks to a defense that forced several fumbles and an interception.
One of the turnovers by Immaculata came on a drive deep into St. Joseph’s territory in the third quarter. A score there could have made it a game with the Green Knights leading 14-0. St. Joseph’s, which plays the likes of Don Bosco Prep, Bergen Catholic, and St. Peter’s Prep, went on to win by the same score to finish the season at 9-3 overall. The Spartans ended their season at 10-2.

GMC Hoops will not be able to attend any of the games involving the GMC teams tomorrow due to conflicts with work. However, the site will be closely watching the games from afar, and will have the results posted on Saturday night.
