2010 Hoop Group Headquarters Spring League–Week Five–Analysis

Monroe Wins Fifth Straight By Edging Vianney While South River Falls Again

NEPTUNE, NJ–On Monday, May 3rd, the 2010 Hoop Group Headquarters Spring League had its fifth week of action. GMC Hoops paid another visit to the facility formerly known as Rebounds to see the South River Rams in action. Monroe played earlier in the evening, and registered its fifth straight victory to start the spring with a hard fought, two point decision over a St. John Vianney team that had been playing well as of late.

South River didn’t take in the advice given by GMC Hoops in its game against Southern Regional. The Rams lacked hustle until the very end, and continue to forget that there are two sides to basketball: offense and defense. Players continued to not get back on defense, especially after missing shots or making mistakes on offense. We’ll have more analysis on the Rams later.

Neptune soundly defeated the Point Pleasant Boro Panthers to keep pace with the Purple Birds while Asbury Park Black was defeated by St. Rose to put those two teams and Vianney in a three way tie for third place in Division A. Ocean Township soundly defeated Manasquan to notch its first win of the spring. Moving over to Division B, G-Force Gold remained undefeated while the Sabertooths kept pace with a victory over Lacey. Asbury Park Blue pulled into a three way tie for third place with Southern Regional and G-Force Black thanks to a win over the latter.

Lacey and Toms River East remained tied at 1-4 while South River remains winless at 0-5. Both divisions remain very competitive though with five teams in each staying within two games of the lead. Each division has an undefeated team, and another with one loss along with a three way tie for third. GMC Hoops was back out at the Hoop Group Headquarters this past Monday night for the sixth week of action despite the fact that it didn’t get a chance to see any GMC teams. The site took in a matchup with one of the two G-Force teams in the league.
