2010 Hoop Group Headquarters Spring League–Week Four–Analysis

Monroe Continues To Cruise Along While South River Suffers Difficult Defeat

NEPTUNE, NJ–On Monday, April 26th, the 2010 Hoop Group Headquarters Spring League had its fourth week of action. GMC Hoops returned to action as it saw South River take on G-Force Black. Monroe played earlier in the evening against Ocean Township, and won easily. On the other hand, the Rams gave up a double digit lead at halftime, and ended up losing by seven.

G-Force Black improved to 3-1 on the spring while their brethren, G-Force Gold rolled past Asbury Park Blue to remain undefeated at 4-0. The G-Force teams are a combined 7-1 on the season. South River remained winless at 0-4. Three of the four losses have come by single digits, but this contest was one that got away. The Rams led 33-14 at the intermission only to give way to a 34-8 surge by G-Force Black that included a 22-1 tear over a span of the first 12:21 of the second half for a 36-34 lead. South River managed to take the lead back, and tie, but then gave way to a 9-2 spurt by the Stallions for the seven point loss.

Perhaps the biggest surprise of the night was St. John Vianney’s five point win over Neptune to pull the Lancers into a three way tie for second place with the Scarlet Fliers and the Bishops of Asbury Park Black. AP Black kept pace with Monroe with a 67-56 decision over still winless Manasquan. St. Rose improved to .500 at 2-2 with a hard fought 39-28 victory over Point Pleasant Boro. Moving over to Division B, the Sabertooths notched a victory over Southern Regional to improve to 3-1 and a second place tie with G-Force Black while Lacey won its first game of the spring with a one point victory over Toms River East.
