Weather Forecast–East Brunswick at 7:00 PM EDT

It has been quite a stormy couple of days here in the Central Jersey area. On Thursday morning, there was 1.65 inches of rain that fell in Northwestern Middlesex County while on Friday, there was another 1.5 inches. In total, we have seen 3.22 inches of rain. This storm was a monster that generated record rainfall in parts of the Carolinas this week. It resulted from a combination of a strong upper level low, and tremendous moisture from the tropics, mostly from Tropical Storm Nicole. However, the rain has let up as the storm is moving out now.

Looking at the forecast, we should see whatever rain is left subside, and things should gradually start getting better as the start of the game approaches. The big story tonight and this weekend will be the temperatures. The mercury should plummet a bit tonight since there will be clearing and radiational cooling will take effect. As a matter of fact, the temperatures are going to be the coldest yet this season. Lows are expected to get down into the mid 40s while highs will be in the mid to upper 60s. So, you might want to bring a sweater or jacket to the game.

Game Outlook

We are going to find out a lot about East Brunswick in this game. True they are coming into this contest with two victories, but both were against teams with a combined record of 0-6. One of those teams, J.P. Stevens, is yet to score this season. Now, it is also true that Woodbridge played the Hawks, and won easily as well. However, the Barrons soundly defeated Old Bridge (41-14) in its opener, and the Knights defeated a Monroe (21-14) team in week two that edged EB at home on opening weekend (21-18).

Most importantly, Woodbridge has a lot of players returning from last year’s great run to the semifinals of the North Jersey Section 2 Group IV State Playoffs including Kyle Anderson, Anthony Nyers, Praise Martin, and Max Issaka. They also have another basketball standout in sophomore Duquan Bailey at running back. Meanwhile, East Brunswick lost a lot of talent from last year’s sectional champion including Mauro Tucci, Mike Weber, Anthony Gudzak, and Kevin Lantz.

The Bears will try to counter with running back Jared Lynch and Mike Cia at quarterback while Julian Quintin and Nick Gudzak anchor the defense. Weather may have an impact again on this game. The last time EB played at home against Edison two weeks ago, they had to use the practice field since electricity at Jay Doyle Field was down.
