GMC Gridiron–Week Seven–Results–Friday night

Good evening everyone. Just got settled here in the house after traveling over to Lombardi Field in Old Bridge to take in the contest between South Brunswick and Old Bridge. It was the first time the site had a chance to see South Brunswick this season, and they didn’t disappoint. It was another wild game at Lombardi Field with Old Bridge scoring on its first possession, and then South Brunswick scoring on the ensuing kickoff. Vince Gargano then ran for a touchdown on the keeper, and the Knights faked the extra point for a two point conversion to take a 14-7 lead. Craig Cleffi then took a handoff, and ran up the South Brunswick sideline to tie the game at 14-14. Cleffi’s touchdown sparked a 41-0 surge for a 48-14 lead before Old Bridge got the final touchdown on a pass by Gargano to round out the 48-21 SBHS victory. Oh, by the way, Carteret won over Keyport in perhaps the best pick I’ve had all year! Below are the results from tonight’s action:

  • South Brunswick 48–Old Bridge 21
  • Sayreville 41–East Brunswick 6
  • Carteret 31–Keyport 28
  • J.F. Kennedy 21–New Brunswick 0
  • Monroe 23–Woodbridge 21
  • North Brunswick 28–Bishop Ahr 0

Note: The game between Shore Regional and Highland Park has been moved to 1:00 PM on Saturday since it is Homecoming at HPHS. GMC Hoops will return to the football beat next Friday night with a game between Bishop Ahr and Perth Amboy from PAHS.
