There have been a lot of changes in the weather over the past 24 to 36 hours. A major cold front pushed through New Jersey on Thursday, and dropped the temperatures some 30 degrees from an early morning high in the mid 70s. The mercury fell some 40 degrees of its high in the mid-80s on Wednesday afternoon. It was the first taste of fall this year. Conditions will be comfortable until about the second half when temperatures will get chilly. See more details on the latest weather in the GWC Blog and Journal.

The forecast for Friday night at South Brunswick High School from the National Weather Service office in Mount Holly calls for mostly cloudy skies and chilly conditions. Game Outlook

This has become a very important early season game for all of the marbles in the GMC Red. South Brunswick crashed the party last week with an upset win at then second ranked Sayreville (14-7). Meanwhile, P-Way rolled past Edison (47-0). The Vikings have a good deal of speed, talent, and athletic ability to matchup with the Chiefs. They are also very disciplined.

South Brunswick didn’t even throw a pass in its victory over Sayreville. They have two talented backs in Jevon Tyree and Darrell Harper while Darae Ford is a punishing fullback. Their defense is anchored by twin brothers Joe and Jake Pietrefesa, who came up with a number of big stops against the Bombers last week. The Vikes run an option attack that can score as long as it doesn’t turn the ball over. Against Sayreville, the Vikings turned over the ball three times.

Meanwhile, Piscataway has the likes of QB Nadir Barnwell along with wideouts Tajae Sharpe and Kyle LaPorte back this year. Tevin Shaw, who was injured late in the season last year against Sayreville, is back and healthy while Damien Stevens, Temi Adebayo, and Ryan James lead a team that has seven players with Division I or I-A offers. They have a lot of firepower back this year after winning the division last year.
