Weather Forecast–Sayreville at 7:00 PM EDT on Friday night

A cold front pushed through during the late morning hours, and not only did that usher in clear skies, but also some gusty winds and chillier temperatures. The weather was very nice to go out and capture the fall foliage, which has begun to peak around Central Jersey. The blue skies and different leaf colors along with the sun angle made for a great visual display this afternoon. Temperatures are expected to drop into the low to mid 30s under clear skies. Winds between 10 to 20 miles per hour should keep temperatures from getting too cold, but we could be seeing a bit of a wind chill effect. Game Outlook

At the beginning of the season, this contest appeared to be another showdown for the GMC Red title. However, South Brunswick put an end to all those thoughts within the first two weeks of the season. Both Sayreville and Piscataway, which were victims of the Vikings, have been able to turn things around as the season wore on. These two programs are too good to struggle for too long. Surprisingly, the Chiefs, last year’s division champs, lost two of its first three games, but have since won four in a row.

Meanwhile, the Bombers have won six straight since losing to SBHS in the season opener. Sayreville went to a quarterback change with Isaiah Cureton taking over under center. Delon Stephenson, Zeke Perkinson, and Alex Yanuzzelli lead the Bombers on offense while Craig Switzer and Deon Miller help lead the defense. The Chiefs have a solid group as well with the likes of Nadir Barnwell, Tevin Shaw, Beniah Harrigan, Kyle LaPorte, and basketball standouts Tajae Sharpe and Temi Adebayo.

Both teams are athletic with plenty of offensive firepower. Besides the change at QB, Sayreville is now running a shotgun spread out of the Wing-T offense. This has become a heated rivalry, and even though the GMC Red has been decided with South Brunswick winning the crown, there is still the matter of Piscataway qualifying for the state playoffs. P-Way needs a win tonight to earn a spot in the very competitive field of North Jersey Section 2 Group IV.
