Monroe Sports Center Fall League–November 9, 2011

MONROE, NJ–On Wednesday night, GMC Hoops traveled down to the Monroe Sports Center Fall League to take in the final two games of the night during the 8:45 hour after being at the East Coast Conditioning Fall League in North Edison. Both games were very competitive including the triple overtime thriller between Bordentown and Robbinsville. The Scotties defeated the Ravens on a last second shot in the third extra session.

Bordentown Prevails In Triple Overtime, 56-54

With 1:42 left in regulation, Bordentown held a tenuous 44-42 lead.  Robbinsville managed to tie the game in the final minute, and force overtime.  Neither team scored in the second overtime, and for the first 35 seconds of the second overtime before the Scotties ignited a 7-0 run with a three pointer.  The Burlington County school then added two more scores including a steal for a layup with 52 seconds left for a 51-44 lead.

Robbinsville didn’t give up though as the Ravens struck for back to back threes to pull within 52-50 at the 17 second mark.  After Bordentown missed a free throw, the Ravens tied the game with a score in the waning seconds.  The Mercer County school then had a chance to win, but missed the front end of a one and one with 0.4 seconds left.  The third overtime began with a score by the Scotties with 1:50 left, but the Ravens responded with a layin at the 1:09 mark to tie the score again at 54-54.

Bordentown would pull out the hard fought 56-54 victory with a score as time expired.  In other action, Hightstown seemed to have a comfortable lead midway through the second half, but Wall Township would rally to pull within one late before losing, 56-55.  So, while we didn’t get a chance to see some GMC teams in action, there were still a couple of very competitive games at MSC.
