Here are some video highlights from Middletown North’s 59-51 victory over Monroe in the quarterfinal round of the 2012 Central Jersey Group IV State Tournament. The third seeded Lions jumped out to a 23-10 lead in the first period, and led 26-12 early in the second before Monroe responded with an 18-6 tear over a 6:02 span to pull within a basket late in the first half.
After Middletown North went up by seven early in the third, the Falcons scored 11 of the next 13 points to actually take a 41-39 lead. However, the Lions finished the game with a 20-10 run including 10 points from standout Jason Huelbig for the 59-51 win. Huelbig ended up with a double-double of 22 points and 13 rebounds. Ryan Genevieve led Monroe in a losing cause with 17 points.
