Here are the video highlights from the second half of the 2012 NJSIAA Group I State Championship between University of Newark and Asbury Park. The Blue Bishops, defending Group I champs, jumped out to a 45-30 halftime lead only to have the Phoenix rally with a 43-27 surge capped by a three from the left side by Keith Foster with 1:19 to go in the fourth for a 73-72 lead.
Thomond Hammary gave Asbury Park the lead for good though with a three point play moments later at the 1:11 mark, and the Bishops won their second straight state title by the final score of 79-76. Armond Conover led Asbury Park with 22 points while Hammary chipped in with 20 points and Amir Conover added 16 points. Elijah Brown led University with a game high 23 points, Foster chipped in with 17, Joe Kelley scored 13, and Akrum Wadley added 12 in the loss.
