WEST ORANGE, NJ–In the finale of the 2012 Hoop Group Tip-Off Classic at West Orange High School, the Grey Bees of St. Benedict’s took on Wilbraham and Monson of Massachusetts. St. Benedict’s jumped out to a 15-5 first quarter lead as game MVP and Syracuse bound, Tyler Ennis (20 points) scored 5 points while Isaiah Watkins added 4 points. The second period saw the team from New England pull within six at 17-11 before the Grey Bees went on a 10-2 run to end the half including two threes by Isaiah Briscoe at the three minute mark, and the 2:26 mark for a 27-13 lead at the break. St. Bennie’s opened up the second half with a 10-0 run as Ennis hit a jumper at the 6:37 while Briscoe added two free throws for a 37-13 lead before the Titans rallied with a 20-8 tear over the a span of 6:14 as game MVP, Kerem Kanter (11 points), scored eight points during the stretch to pull within a dozen midway through the fourth, but couldn’t get any closer as the Grey Bees won, 57-39.
