On opening night, Spotswood jumped out to a 20-4 lead as Jake Dadika and Dalonte Grant closed the first period with threes during a 10-0 run. South Plainfield, which trailed at one point in the first half by the score of 38-16, battled back with a 19-6 tear over nearly eight minutes to pull within nine on two occasions late in the third, but the Chargers pulled away with a 24-7 surge over the final 9:39 for the win.
