In the consolation, South Amboy jumped out to a 16-6 first quarter lead, and then went on a 7-2 run in the second quarter for a 25-12 advantage before leading by ten at the half. In the third period, the Guvs outscored the Admirals by an 18-8 margin as junior guard, Steve Herdman (22 points and 5 threes) converted a four point play with 1:27 left in the frame, and knocked down a triple with 52 seconds left for a 43-23 lead en route to a 53-37 win. Joe Fruncillo chipped in with 19 points for South Amboy.
In the Championship, a great game was played between South River and Keansburg, which defeated the Rams in the Keansburg Holiday Tourney final. Trailing 54-46 with 5:23 left, and then 58-51 with 1:35 left, the Rams rallied with a 9-2 spurt including a game tying three from the left corner by Sean Darrar with a second to go in regulation. In the extra session, South River trailed 64-60 before ending the game on a 13-7 run including another trey from the left corner by Sean Darrar (11 points) with 18.7 seconds remaining to lift the Rams to the 73-71 win. Tyler Harris led the way with a game high 24 points while Tim Darrar chipped in with 18, and Matt Martinez added 16 points and 10 assists. Dan Markulin led Keansburg in a losing cause with 22 points while Tyler Walters chipped in with 15.
