SOUTH AMBOY, NJ–On Wednesday night, GMC Hoops took in two overtime games in the JV/Varsity Doubleheader between South River and South Amboy at South Amboy Middle/High School. After South River’s JV won over the Junior Guvs in overtime, 50-45, the Varsity Rams had to go an extra session before defeating South Amboy, 87-80. Matt Martinez scored 9 of his game high 20 points in overtime including 7 of 9 from the foul line while William Simmons (19 points) and Tim Darrar (15 points) added baskets in the decisive 13-6 session. Steve Herdman had a team high 19 points for South Amboy including five threes while Joe Fruncillo added 18 and Nick Kales chipped in with 15.
