GMC Hoops Game Notes–Highland Park @ Carteret–Blue Division Clash–February 1, 2013

CARTERET, NJ–On Friday afternoon, GMC Hoops traveled over to Carteret High School to take in the first half of the Blue Division contest between the Ramblers and the Highland Park Owls. Carteret started out strong with a dunk by Joe McRae, and had a 9-0 lead in the first 2:19 as HPHS turned the ball over 7 times. The Owls didn’t get on the board until the five minute mark of the period, and trailed at one point the first by a score of 22-4 before ending the period with an 8-4 spurt to narrow the deficit to 26-12 after one.

Highland Park wouldn’t get any closer after that as Carteret put togethert a 25-3 onslaught in the second for a 51-15 lead at the intermission en route to a 92-33 victory. Five Ramblers scored in double figures including Tyrell Lockley, who scored 14 of his 18 points in the first half. Jaquan Robertson scored 10 of his 16 points in the first two periods while Elijah Torres scored 9 of his 15 in the first 16 minutes. Jordan Long scored 11 points in a losing cause for the Owls including 9 in the first half. Below are game notes from the contest, most of which were from the first half.
