Here are highlights from the action in a GMC Gold Division Clash between Perth Amboy Tech and East Brunswick Tech in late January 2014. This was the third time in the 2013-14 season that these two teams were playing against each other.
The Patriots of Amboy Tech trailed throughout much of the first half before going on a 10-1 tear to end the half for a 25-23 lead. The Pats increased the lead to four at 32-28 by opening the third with a 7-3 spurt. The game went back and forth after that with E.B. Tech going on an 11-4 tear to take a 39-36 lead early in the fourth before P.A. Tech responded with a 9-0 spurt for a six point lead with 2:14 left.
The Tigers battled back though with six unanswered points including a three point play with less than a minute to go in regulation for a 45-45 tie. Big man, Jordan Little put the Patriots ahead for good with a breakaway two handed jam with 56 seconds left only to have E.B. Tech respond with a bucket to tie the game again at 47-47.
P.A. Tech then got two free throws from Noel Garay with 36.2 seconds left, and then the Pats withstood a couple scoring attempts by the Tigers to come away with the 49-47 victory. Little ended up with 24 points while E.B. Tech’s Mark Alston led all scorers with 34 points.
