GMC Hoops Slideshow—January 28, 2014–Sayreville @ Woodbridge–White Division Clash

Here is a slideshow from photos taken of the action between third ranked Sayreville and Woodbridge in a GMC White Division clash at Woodbridge High School. Led by a game high 25 points from senior guard, Corey Taite and 16 points from fellow senior Rob Seraji, Sayreville was able to pull away in the fourth quarter for a 62-53 victory.

Sayreville jumped out to a 38-31 lead by halftime, and then started the second half by scoring 7 of the first 9 points to take a 45-33 lead midway through the third quarter. Football standout, Malik Pressley scored all of the Bombers points during the run as he connected on a three pointer to open the half, and then converted a rare four point play. Led by Quassim Glover, the Barrons got the next four points to pull within single digits again at 45-37.

But the Bombers didn’t let Woodbridge get any closer. Sayreville scored 4 of the last six points of the third including a last second shot by Brian Gay for a 49-39 lead entering the fourth. In the final period, Taite took over by scoring 10 of Sayreville’s 13 points in the frame including a three pointer, a conventional three point play, two free throws, and a breakaway layup. Brian Gay added two late free throws to help shape the final margin of victory. Glover ended up with a team high 17 points for Woodbridge while Zahneer Shuler added 13, which all came in the first half.
