Here is a slideshow from photos taken of the action in the 2014 Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament Play-In round between 15th seeded Perth Amboy and 18th seeded Piscataway. The Chiefs of P-Way won its fourth straight game, and advanced to the GMCT Round of 16 with a 65-56 victory over Perth Amboy. Piscataway trailed 52-50 when it closed the game with a 15-4 tear including three cutbacks by senior Joe Hines including one for a 54-52 lead at the 2:51 mark, and another one for a 56-54 lead at the 2:31 mark. Plainfield transfer Najee Lucky scored a game high 17 points including several free throws down the stretch to help seal the win.
Big man Marinus Tavernier, and guards Elijah Murray-Tucker and Rachid Shimou each added 9 points for the winners. Anthony Garcia led Amboy in a losing cause with a monster double-double of 16 points and 17 boards as well as two blocks. Jamieson Hernandez added 12 points including 10 and two three pointers in the second quarter for the Panthers while forward John Wahrmann chipped in with 6 points, 14 rebounds, and 4 blocks. PAHS had 11 blocks in the game including five in the second quarter when the Panthers rallied from a 22-8 first quarter deficit with a 20-9 showing to pull within three at the half. Nate Melendez, who was relegated to the bench in the second half, ended up with 5 of those blocks.
