North Brunswick Looks In Top Form In Double Digit Wins Over EB and Sayreville

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ–The calendar might have read June, and the summer league season is just starting, but North Brunswick looked in mid-season form in its two games at the 2014 East Brunswick Team Camp at EBHS on Tuesday night. With everyone returning from a squad that finished second in the GMC White, and reached the GMCT Elite Eight while its JV squad reached the semifinals of the East Brunswick JV Tournament, the Raiders will be one of the favorites in what is appearing to be right now a wide open race in the GMC for 2014-15.

Leading 25-13 at the half against East Brunswick in its first game, North Brunswick went on a 14-2 tear over the first 15 minutes of the second half to take a 39-15 lead en route to a 43-24 victory. Then, in its nightcap, NBTHS jumped out to a 15-0 lead in the first 3:30 against defending White Division champion, Sayreville, and then coasted to a 56-26 victory. In other action, Old Bridge had a decisive stretch in the second half, and hung on to defeat Bishop Ahr by the score of 53-44.

The Trojans of BGA would rebound though with a win over defending CJ Group II champion, Matawan by the score of 48-44. Ahr finished the game with a 6-0 run over the last 1:42 thanks to a basket and two free throws by Tom Weiler, and two free throws by Pat Astarita for the win. Perth Amboy also rolled past Sayreville in another contest. Below are some of the results from Tuesday night action at the EB Team Camp.
